Chopper Twirls Wildly into Palm Groves at Well-Known California Beach
A chopper hovering near a popular California beach unexpectedly began spiraling out of control, eventually descending rapidly and smashing into a cluster of palm groves as beachgoers looked on.
Recordings shared on social media show the helicopter commencing to spiral near the beach then descending near the border of the coast, where it gets stuck amidst palm groves and a steps close to the Pacific Coast highway.
Emergency Response Information
The Huntington Beach fire department said five people were rushed to the hospital involving a pair who were in the aircraft and were “extracted safely from the crash site” following the accident on Saturday.
Three people on the street were hurt. Information on their wounds were not yet released.
What led to the incident was not immediately released.
Planned Function
Officials indicated the chopper was connected to an annual “Cars with Copters” charity gathering planned for Sunday.
