Thomas Tuchel Questions Wembley Crowd Support Following Dominant Wales Victory.

The England head coach expressed his disappointment that the Three Lions team did not enjoy more backing from the Wembley spectators during their decisive friendly win against Wales on Thursday evening.

Tuchel was pleased to see his team maintain their good form, with finishes from Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Saka inside the first 20 minutes effectively ending the game. However, he was unhappy with the atmosphere at the iconic venue.

“We had one and a half sessions to prepare against a well-trained team and we did very well,” Tuchel remarked. “We could have been five goals ahead at half-time. We missed the fourth and fifth ones. The stadium was silent. There was no support from the stands. Our team gave their all to win.”

“What more can you give in 20 minutes? We prevented them escape. When you only hear just the Welsh supporters for 30 minutes, it’s regrettable because the squad earned greater backing today.”

“I maintain this statement. We cannot do more than leading three goals up in a derby. I hoped for a greater backing in moments where it is challenging.”

“After halftime, to get behind us, there was a bit too much support for Wales. It could have helped us to refocus, but that’s football and so be it.”

Squad Decisions Justified by Performance

Apart from potentially starting a dispute among supporters, Tuchel also caused a stir by leaving out Jude Bellingham and Foden from his squad. Yet the choice was validated by Rogers excelling in the attacking midfield role and getting his first international goal.

“He plays his game,” the head coach said. “He operates as an attacking midfielder and he is competing for his place.”

Wales Manager Seeks Improvement from Defeat

The Wales manager expressed hope that his team, who host Belgium in a key World Cup qualifier on next week, learn from their disappointing performance in the opening period.

“That’s the reason I scheduled this friendly,” Bellamy said. “I need to see where we are. Where do we want to go? Who do we want to be? This performance gives me inspiration.”

Injury Concern for Watkins

Ollie Watkins was taken off at half-time after clattering into a goalpost and will be a doubt when the national team face their next opponents in the Latvian capital in a World Cup qualifying match on next week.
